I don’t know why but I always buy a package or two of Peeps at Easter time. I don’t like eating them, I just think that they are weirdly cute. Post holiday, the bunnies and chicks languish until I find a young niece or nephew with a mean sweet tooth. This year however, I put the marshmallow treats to excellent use at a beach campfire. Skewered and roasted over flames, Peeps get warm and gooey like any Jet-puff, BUT because of their colorful, sugary jackets, the Easter treats also form a thin, caramelized sugar coating that’s quite delectable. Oh, and notice the dark chocolate. It’s gotta be bittersweet ‘cuz with milk chocolate and a Peep- it would be sugary wrong.
